Since 2006, GI-NET has worked to address conflict risk in Sudan, with over a dozen major corporations adopting its recommendations for responsible corporate behavior in Sudan. Before CRN, GI-NET's efforts were conducted through the Sudan Divestment Task Force (SDTF). CRN continues the corporate responsibility work GI-NET has conducted for Sudan, and broadens the organization's mandate to address conflict risk in additional areas of concern.
CRN provides three core services to its members:
CRN produces in-depth, comprehensive research and compiles financial data on companies materially involved in select countries afflicted by severe conflict.
Drawing on established principles and standards, and in consultation with country experts, partner organizations and others, CRN develops specific corporate responsibility standards and recommendations for responsible corporate behavior in select countries afflicted by severe conflict.
On behalf of CRN members, CRN conducts direct engagement with companies materially involved in select conflict areas, to improve in-country behavior and impact.
